Rethinking school
We really want to put into practice what we now know about learning and good all-day schooling. We are happy when you and the children take part and share your ideas!
We shape school around children and their needs. Some things may seem different from what you remember from your own school days – and that’s on purpose! Together, we are taking part in changing education for the better.
We really want to put into practice what we now know about learning and good all-day schooling. We are happy when you and the children take part and share your ideas!
We want your children to enjoy coming to school, make friends, feel valued and learn with joy. Joy and positive feelings are an important basis for lasting learning. We want to keep and support every child’s love of learning and curiosity!
You, your children and everyone who is part of your children’s lives should feel welcome here. Your child is right just the way they are. We can’t wait to see everything we will experience together!
We have said goodbye to traditional homework. Instead, we use this time to have more time for learning at school. Practice and revision phases are built into the learning times regularly.
All day long, we pay attention to movement, healthy food and mindfulness. We eat breakfast together in class. At lunchtime, there is always a salad and raw vegetable bar as well as a hot meal – and if someone doesn’t like the food, there is always muesli (with plant-based or cow’s milk).
Life and society are colourful – and so are we! Together, we look for the many strengths that children bring with them. Our school keeps adapting to the children and removes barriers so that ALL children can use their right to individual support and to take part.
Living and learning democracy together – with tolerance, respect and empathy. That is what our rainbow stands for! In the class council, the children’s parliament and the school assembly, children help shape their school, class and lessons from day one.
We truly want to be anti-racist. If we overlook something, please tell us – we are always happy to learn!
Step by step, every child receives an iPad and uses it as a tool and for support. We help the children learn to use digital media critically.
As an open all-day school, we have all-day care (OGS). It offers a cosy start in the morning, accompanies lunch, and supports, encourages and inspires the children in learning spaces and projects. It is run by the experienced TSVE 1890 Bielefeld e.V. Permanent key educators accompany the classes into the afternoon and are a firm part of the school team.
Care from Monday to Thursday, 7:00 to 16:30, and on Fridays until 15:30. There are also activities on flexible school holidays and during the school holidays (separate registration).
Arrival (OGS) – time for breakfast, free play, talking, getting organised
Arrival for children not registered for the OGS – a relaxed start to the 1st learning time
1st learning time (with breakfast included)

🍽️ Our lunch – balanced, organic quality and a vegetarian option every day. Every day there is a “fresh counter” with salad and raw vegetables. A long lunch break with free play leaves time to eat in peace – and we regularly ask the children what they would like to eat.
🏖️ Holiday care – In Bielefeld, there is OGS holiday care shared by many schools. You can choose the location and book it through the online portal.
